October Events Updated: The Youth Ministry of Magnolia UMC provides an atmosphere that is conducive for teenagers in the 6th through 12th grades to grow in their relationship with God and with each other in our community of faith. Opportunities are provided for study, worship, fun, fellowship and outreach.
We meet Sundays after worship in the Youth Pavilion from 12-1:30 pm unless otherwise advertised. Please be sure to check the weekly bulletin, announcement slides, and Facebook for any updates or changes to the Youth Schedule!
Youth Hurricane Recovery, Mission Night – October 1st, 6-7pm
The youth will be coming together in the church Sanctuary to put together hygiene kits for victims of the recent hurricanes to be distributed through UMCOR. Parents are welcome. Let’s come together as individual families and as the family of God to help those who have been devastated by the recent hurricanes and other natural disasters. See www.umcor.org for specific items to bring for the kits.
On October 15th right after the service there will be a training session for potential acolytes. Being an acolyte is an excited way for kids 3rd to 7th grade to participate in the worship service on Sundays. Stacey Prescott has offered to train and lead this part of the worship service. Thank you, Stacey. If you are interested in your child serving as an acolyte, let Pastor Mark or Joshua Jones know you are going to attend.
Pastor Mark has asked the youth of the church to lead the service on October 22nd. Come prepared to join the youth in worshiping and honoring God with their voices, instruments, and reading of Scripture. Joshua Jones, the Director or Youth and Children’s Ministry, will be preaching on “Youth Strong,” the concluding message in our recent series “Rising Strong.”
Trunk or Treat
On October 29th from 4:00-6:00pm come out and enjoy a fun and safe family friendly celebration of the season. There will be plenty of candy, a petting zoo, bounce house, and loads of activities for the kids in the church parking lot of Magnolia United Methodist Church. This event is open to the entire community, so please be sure to invite a friend or two and join us for an evening of fun!
If you want to volunteer to run an activity or donate individually wrapped nut-free candy, please sign up to participate in the Narthex or by contacting Joshua Jones.
